Transcription Privacy: What to Check Before Uploading Audio

A recording can contain names, personal stories, or confidential information. Before transcribing it, check what you are sharing and how to remove the copies you no longer need.

    Check permission first

Make sure you have permission to upload and transcribe the recording. For workplace or confidential material, follow the rules that apply to that recording. Being able to access a file does not automatically mean you can share it.

Understand what happens to your audio

TalkToTextly securely uploads the audio you select for transcription. Temporary audio and transcript copies are deleted after processing or an error. An internet connection is required.

Closing the page can prevent you from receiving the result; it may not stop processing immediately. Keep your original recording until you have checked and saved the transcript.

    Manage your transcript copies

A transcript can contain the same sensitive information as the audio. Check names, quotations, and recipients before sharing it.

TalkToTextly may save the result in this browser’s history. You can delete history entries or clear the site’s browser data. Downloaded documents and text copied into other apps must be managed separately.

    Review your privacy choices

Advertising and analytics choices are separate from transcription. You can reopen privacy options from the website footer. Audio and transcript contents are not used as advertising or analytics event data.

When comparing transcription tools, look for clear upload notices, retention information, deletion options, and explanations of what happens after an error. Avoid relying on a privacy badge alone.

Read the full privacy information or visit support before uploading a recording if you have questions.
