What audio formats do you support?
TalkToTextly supports common browser-readable audio and video formats including MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, WebM, OGG, FLAC, and OPUS. Support can still depend on your browser, device, file encoding, and available memory. If a file does not load, try exporting it again as MP3, WAV, or M4A, or split a very long recording into shorter sections.
How accurate are the transcriptions?
Transcription quality is strongest on clear speech with low background noise, one speaker at a time, and the correct language selected. Names, acronyms, technical terms, punctuation, and overlapping speakers may need review. Treat the first transcript as a draft for editing, quoting, subtitles, meeting notes, or study material rather than as a guaranteed final record.
Is my data secure?
TalkToTextly uses a browser-first workflow. Local transcription is used when your browser and device support it, and constrained fallback is offered only after a visible notice. The app does not require an account, password, subscription, or payment details to process audio. You should still follow your own consent, confidentiality, and retention rules before transcribing sensitive recordings.
What's the maximum file size?
The current upload limit is 100MB, but practical reliability also depends on recording length, audio format, browser memory, and device performance. Short files are easier to process and review. For long meetings, lectures, podcasts, or interviews, split the recording into smaller parts, keep the tab open while processing, and export the transcript before starting another large file.
Can I transcribe WhatsApp voice messages?
Yes. Save or share the WhatsApp voice message as an audio file first, then choose that file in TalkToTextly. The tool does not log in to WhatsApp, connect to your account, read chats, or scan messages. It only transcribes the audio file you manually select. WhatsApp exports are often OGG or OPUS files, but device and app behavior can vary.
Are there practical file-size considerations?
TalkToTextly is free to use and does not require registration. You can copy the transcript or export common text and subtitle formats after processing. Browser and device limits still matter: very large files, weak devices, unsupported encodings, noisy recordings, or unstable tabs can fail or produce lower-quality drafts. If the result matters, review the text before publishing, filing, or sharing it.
